Mahakashyap\u00a0always\u00a0used\u00a0to\u00a0be quiet. He used\u00a0to\u00a0sit in the corner simply watching the Master – Gautama Buddha. He never talked much. Other disciples would say “Why you don’t talk? And as far as we know you have come from very faraway land…”
\nHe said ” It\u00a0is\u00a0true that I have come from very far\u00a0to\u00a0attain –\u00a0to\u00a0learn –\u00a0to\u00a0seek wisdom but the moment I arrived, the moment I had\u00a0a\u00a0glimpse of the master – all my quest, all my rush\u00a0to\u00a0attain dropped then and there. Now I am happy\u00a0to\u00a0just have\u00a0a\u00a0glimpse of the master – nothing I wish for, just by being in HIS omnipresence – I can relate, I can understand.”
\nAnd it\u00a0is\u00a0said that the first disciple of Buddha\u00a0to\u00a0attain enlightenment was Mahakashyap. Once enlightened, Mahakashyap realized that now he cannot stay with the master, he has\u00a0to\u00a0move on and so he would not go near Buddha. Buddha himself had\u00a0to\u00a0walk toward Mahakashyap and say “Mahakashyapa, don’t try\u00a0to\u00a0deceive me. Now there\u00a0is\u00a0no need\u00a0to\u00a0sit under this tree. Get on and move! There are millions of people\u00a0who\u00a0are still groping in darkness, and you are sitting here enlightened. Take this fire of your enlightenment and make as many people aflame as possible.” Mahakashyap was in tears. He realized that enlightenment\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0great responsibility.<\/p>\n

“Enlightenment is not only enlightenment, it is also a great responsibility. You have come to realize the ultimate peace, the joy, the blissfulness. Now it is your responsibility to share it, to go as far away as possible. Now there is no point in sitting by the side of the master.” – Osho<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u00a0always\u00a0happens,\u00a0a\u00a0devoted disciple never wants\u00a0to\u00a0go away from the Master! Mahakashyap was also finding it difficult\u00a0to\u00a0move away from the master – but the master – Gautama Buddha\u00a0comes\u00a0and says \u201c You cannot sit under this tree – there are millions of people groping in darkness, it\u00a0is\u00a0your responsibility\u00a0to\u00a0share the bliss you have experienced!\u201d<\/p>\n

A\u00a0real master never wants his disciple\u00a0to\u00a0remain dependent on him.\u00a0Always\u00a0remember\u00a0this. Lao Tzu, the divine master says – \u201cWhen the DISCIPLE\u00a0is\u00a0READY – the MASTER APPEARS. And when the DISCIPLE\u00a0is\u00a0TRULY READY – the MASTER DISAPPEARS.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The real master the perfect master never makes you dependent on him. And if any master makes people dependant, if any master creates dependance in people, if he makes people dependent on him, he is not a true master. He is akind of exploiter, he is trying to dominate you in the name of religion. He is trying to enslave you, he cannot give you freedom.” – Osho<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gautama Buddha was the real master and so when Mahakashyap attains enlightenment, the master instructs him\u00a0to\u00a0move on –\u00a0to\u00a0go back\u00a0to\u00a0the towns and cities and enlighten those\u00a0who\u00a0are \u2018thirsty\u2019 for\u00a0GOD. Jesus says that those\u00a0who\u00a0have the \u2018THIRST\u2019 will be filled, will be blessed!<\/p>\n

“Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness Shall Be Filled
\nBlessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
\nMatthew<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Righteousness\u00a0is\u00a0SWADHARMA. In the GITA, Krishna emphasis on SWADHARMA.\u00a0GOD\u00a0CONSCIOUSNESS\u00a0is\u00a0always\u00a0found in RIGHTEOUSNESS – SWADHARMA!<\/p>\n

And so whosoever\u00a0is\u00a0THIRSTY for\u00a0GOD\u00a0–\u00a0is\u00a0HUNGRY\u00a0to\u00a0experience\u00a0GOD\u00a0– will be filled, will be blessed – because that\u00a0is\u00a0what the whole goal\u00a0is\u00a0of the God\u2019s \u2018messenger\u2019 – be it Jesus, Muhammad, Mahavira or Mahakashyap – the whole purpose\u00a0is\u00a0to\u00a0spread the LIGHT of AWARENESS – make as many people\u00a0aflame\u00a0as possible!<\/p>\n

This world\u00a0is\u00a0vast – so vast that your MIND cannot contain it. But your HEART can!<\/p>\n

Always\u00a0remember\u00a0if you try\u00a0to\u00a0feel the VASTNESS of this HUMAN WORLD by your MIND – you can never feel or realize – but if you sit down, and start moving deeper and deeper into your being – then through the \u2018LIGHT OF CONSCIOUSNESS\u2019 that\u00a0is\u00a0WITHIN you – you can feel, you can realize the VASTNESS of this whole universe, not just the world on this planet!<\/p>\n

And then when you self realize the VASTNESS – you also realize how \u2018small\u2019 you are – even smaller than\u00a0a\u00a0ANT – and then you realize what\u00a0a\u00a0FOOL you have been all these births and rebirths –\u00a0always\u00a0moving with such\u00a0a\u00a0BIG FAT EGO of \u201cI AM SOMEBODY\u201d!<\/p>\n

You see – this\u00a0is\u00a0the whole process\u00a0to\u00a0come\u00a0to\u00a0the realization that \u201cI AM NOTHING\u201d – that \u201cI AM NOBODY\u201d!<\/p>\n

Always\u00a0remember\u00a0GOD\u00a0comes\u00a0only\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018NOBODY\u2019\u00a0–\u00a0LOVE\u00a0flows\u00a0only\u00a0to\u00a0someone\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0NOBODY!<\/p>\n

“WHEN YOU LOVE, YOU HAVE TO BECOME NOBODY. IF YOU REMAIN SOMEBODY, THEN LOVE NEVER HAPPENS.”

Once it happened – there was\u00a0a\u00a0shrine,\u00a0a\u00a0beautiful shrine. And\u00a0a\u00a0very old man used\u00a0to\u00a0sweep the floors of that shrine. Everyday – every morning and every evening, he would come, bow before the \u2018Sufi Saint\u2019 Photo – and then start sweeping the floor. And in that shrine – many scholars and pundits also used\u00a0to\u00a0come, and they all would gather and give long discourses and many people would also gather\u00a0to\u00a0listen\u00a0to\u00a0their discourses and it used\u00a0to\u00a0get all packed. And in that crowd, the old man simply would continue\u00a0to\u00a0sweep the floors with devotion – his eyes would become wet in the fond memory of the Sufi Saint.\u00a0Nobody\u00a0would pay attention\u00a0to\u00a0him – he was the most IGNORED person – because people\u00a0always\u00a0SEE\u00a0to\u00a0all that SHINES – all that GLIMMERS and those pundits and those scholars would\u00a0always\u00a0come in shimmering dress – after all people have\u00a0to\u00a0recognize them as \u2018SOMEBODY\u2019!<\/p>\n

One day the music was playing, people had gathered, it was\u00a0a\u00a0festive day and suddenly amidst all – from nowhere the Sufi Saint appeared – and the pundits and the scholars and the people – they all rushed towards HIM –\u00a0to\u00a0touch HIS feet – but the Sufi Saint IGNORED all of them and rushed towards the old man – the old man was sweeping the floors as usual, reciting the Sufi Saint\u2019s name – and he was so much engrossed in NAAM SMARAN – that he didn\u2019t even realized that the MASTER – whose name he\u00a0is\u00a0reciting\u00a0is\u00a0coming towards HIM – rushing towards HIM – and the Master came and hugged the old man\u2026..<\/p>\n

And the old man started crying\u2026\u2026the master said \u201c Abdul\u201d – that was his name – Abdul.<\/p>\n

And Old Abdul said \u201c Master – I am blessed by your divine touch – how\u00a0to\u00a0thank you, how\u00a0to\u00a0express my gratitude – how\u00a0to\u00a0and what\u00a0to\u00a0say – I am speechless.\u201d<\/p>\n

The master said \u201c Abdul – you have said so much through your devotion, you have said so much through your\u00a0love\u00a0– that now nothing need\u00a0to\u00a0be said – You are mine fellow.\u201d<\/p>\n

GOD\u00a0always\u00a0comes\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0NOBODY. Not\u00a0to\u00a0the priest and not\u00a0to\u00a0the pundits and not\u00a0to\u00a0the scholars and not\u00a0to\u00a0the philosophers BUT\u00a0only\u00a0to\u00a0someone\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0as beautiful as ABDUL –\u00a0A\u00a0nobody!<\/p>\n

The whole gathering of people and the pundits and the scholars were taken aback – because they could not understand what was so special in that old man –\u00a0a\u00a0sweeper – that the MASTER ignored them and simply rushed towards\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018Nobody\u2019!<\/p>\n

And they haven\u2019t found the answer yet and they will never find the answer ever – because\u00a0to\u00a0find the answer – you too have become\u00a0a\u00a0NOBODY\u00a0– like ABDUL – until then you will remain on the circumference – waiting for the answer!<\/p>\n

It happens – some of you\u00a0who\u00a0read my answers – my posts on this forum or elsewhere – you read and connect because the words that I share surpass your MIND – and then you feel the bliss! So when I am writing – it\u00a0is\u00a0my heart – when you are reading – it\u00a0is\u00a0your heart – the connection happens because at the moment of writing or reading – the MIND ceases and the HEART wells up!<\/p>\n

It\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0beautiful relating –\u00a0a\u00a0resonance that cannot necessarily happen when I am talking and your are listening – because the state of being\u00a0\u2018NOBODY\u2019\u00a0is\u00a0not at that moment!<\/p>\n

It\u00a0is\u00a0only\u00a0when we are in the state of\u00a0NOBODY\u00a0that we can connect!\u00a0A\u00a0master can connect with the disciple because the state of\u00a0\u2018nobodiness\u2019\u00a0is\u00a0there – it\u00a0is\u00a0only\u00a0in the state of\u00a0NOBODINESS\u00a0the real connection happens and not otherwise!<\/p>\n

\nGod is not something: he is nothing or, even more correctly, no-thingness.

EMPTINESS. NOTHINGNESS\u00a0is\u00a0the very essence of Buddhist Sutras (Sermons)!<\/p>\n

Jesus says\u00a0to\u00a0Nicodemus \u201cYou have\u00a0to\u00a0REBORN\u201d. It\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0divine message\u00a0to\u00a0become\u00a0a\u00a0NOBODY\u00a0–\u00a0to\u00a0DROP all the LEARNING, all the SCHORLARSHIPS, all the NOTIONS and preconcieved ideas and\u00a0to\u00a0become\u00a0a\u00a0ZERO (KETU) – it\u00a0is\u00a0only\u00a0through the ZERO – SHUNYA – EMPTINESS – NOBODINESS that you can experience the divine, the beyond and it\u00a0is\u00a0beautiful!<\/p>\n

“You are nobody. You are born as a nobodiness with no name, no form. You will die as a nobody.
\nName and form are just on the surface; deep down you are just a vast space. And it is beautiful”

MAHAKASHYAP\u00a0comes\u00a0– he\u00a0comes\u00a0to\u00a0LEARN,\u00a0to\u00a0ASK many questions – just like you – but the moment he came and had the first glimpse of the master – Gautama Buddha – he DROPPED everything – all his idea of asking, talking, questioning – everything was dropped – he remained SILENT – and in that SILENCE – sitting in the corner – he was truly able\u00a0to\u00a0CONNECT,\u00a0to\u00a0RELATE,\u00a0to\u00a0RESONATE with the master\u2019s sharing! The other disciples questioned\u00a0a\u00a0lot, talked\u00a0a\u00a0lot but it was MAHAKASHYAP\u00a0who\u00a0became the FIRST DISCIPLE of BUDDHA\u00a0to\u00a0attain enlightenment!<\/p>\n

And when he attained enlightenment – he laughed –\u00a0a\u00a0loud belly laugh. Buddha was present, he asked \u201cMahakashyap – you never talked – so now after attaining enlightenment why you laughed?\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahakashyap said \u201c Master – I laughed because I never thought that I would be the first\u00a0to\u00a0attain enlightenment – I wanted the others\u00a0to\u00a0attain first because they were in rush, I was not in rush – I said\u00a0to\u00a0myself – that let others attain first – then in the end I will attain – but I became the first\u00a0to\u00a0attain and so the laughter came\u2026..\u201d<\/p>\n

This\u00a0is\u00a0so significant – this\u00a0is\u00a0so beautiful and this\u00a0is\u00a0so deep.\u00a0Only\u00a0a\u00a0meditative being can understand the significance of Mahakashyap\u2019s words!<\/p>\n

A\u00a0man\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0in RUSH\u00a0to\u00a0attain – will NEVER attain. And\u00a0a\u00a0man\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0in RUSH\u00a0is\u00a0always\u00a0ruled by the MIND – such\u00a0a\u00a0man\u00a0always\u00a0remains where he\u00a0is!<\/p>\n

Only\u00a0a\u00a0man\u00a0who\u00a0has moved beyond the MIND can WAIT – can be PATIENT – can wait for years and years – he\u00a0is\u00a0the MAHAKASHYAP – he can say \u201cLet others attain – I can attain in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

And surprisingly\u00a0GOD\u00a0always\u00a0opens the DOOR for such\u00a0a\u00a0man\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0WILLING\u00a0TO\u00a0WAIT – WILLING\u00a0TO\u00a0BE PATIENT!<\/p>\n

I would\u00a0love\u00a0you all\u00a0to\u00a0be like MAHAKASHYAP –\u00a0to\u00a0learn from MAHAKASHYAP –\u00a0to\u00a0understand how\u00a0a\u00a0true disciple\u00a0is\u00a0–\u00a0only\u00a0then can you all progress on the spiritual path – till then you will remain on the circumference – with no peace of mind, no joy, no bliss.<\/p>\n

Money cannot bring PEACE\u00a0to\u00a0you.\u00a0Always\u00a0remember\u00a0this. In fact money has provoked one brother\u00a0to\u00a0cut the throat of other brother – Money\u00a0is\u00a0the reason for all fights and violence and murders.<\/p>\n

Ramakrishna Paramhansa NEVER would keep any money\/coins with him. He could not even tolerate touch of money or silver\u00a0coins. You know the greatest difficulty with me\u00a0is\u00a0to\u00a0keep or even\u00a0to\u00a0touch money.<\/p>\n

Money has become the MASTER – whereas Money should become your slave and not the master!<\/p>\n

Money should NOT drive you – you should drive money. Swami Vivekananda – the disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa quotes:<\/p>\n

“He is truly a man to whom money is only a servant; but, on the other hand, those who do not know how to make a proper use of it, hardly deserve to be called men. Hold your money merely as custodian for what is God’s. Have no attachment for it. Let name and fame and money go; they are a terrible bondage. Feel the wonderful atmosphere of freedom.” – Swami Vivekananda<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

FREEDOM\u00a0is\u00a0ABOVE ALL! Many times I feel I should drop everything and just move\u00a0to\u00a0the mountains – but then the master directs me back\u00a0to\u00a0the city – the time\u00a0is\u00a0not yet, still I have\u00a0to\u00a0be here, still some \u2018pending\u2019 karma\u00a0is\u00a0to\u00a0be fulfilled\u2026.<\/p>\n

Mahakashyap remains one of the greatest enlightened being – through his journey – he also enlighten us – leaving\u00a0a\u00a0wonderful example – of\u00a0a\u00a0devoted, disciplined and\u00a0a\u00a0meditative disciple\u00a0who\u00a0also lived and rejoiced in his NOBODINESS!<\/p>\n

A\u00a0man\u00a0who\u00a0has become\u00a0a\u00a0NOBODY\u00a0– has NO FEET, NO WINGS, NO MIND and yet HE can FLY – HE can experience the higher altitudes – the beauty of the BEYOND!<\/p>\n

\n“Walk without feet, Fly without wings and Think without mind” – OSHO<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can also experience the beyond – you can also become\u00a0a\u00a0Buddha – you can also be like Mahakashyap – but the question\u00a0is\u00a0–\u00a0are you willing\u00a0to\u00a0become\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018Nobody\u2019?<\/p>\n

Your answer will decide your \u2018journey\u2019 ahead.<\/p>\n

Meditate on the words that I have shared.<\/p>\n

Meditate and let the answer well up from your heart.<\/p>\n

God\u00a0will wait for your answer. The Master will wait. The Master can WAIT for eternity – that\u00a0is\u00a0how deep the\u00a0love\u00a0of the master\u00a0is\u00a0– that\u00a0is\u00a0how deep the master\u2019s compassion\u00a0is!<\/p>\n

Turn inwards, look within and Find the Answer.<\/p>\n
