\nThey all ran towards the river and Junaid was walking on the water, singing songs, dancing. When he came to the shore, the master asked, \u201cWhat is the secret?\u201d
\nHe said, \u201cWhat is the secret? It is the same secret that you have given to me \u2014 your name. I remembered you. I said, `Master, allow me to walk on water\u2019 and it happened.\u201d
\nThe master could not believe that his name\u2026. He himself could not walk on water. But perhaps\u2026 he had never tried.<\/p>\n

But it would be better to check a few more things before he tries. So he said to Junaid, \u201cCan you jump from that hill?\u201d
\nJunaid said, \u201cWhatever you say.\u201d He went up on the hill and jumped, and they were all standing in the valley waiting \u2014 just pieces of Junaid will be there! Even if they can find pieces of him, that will be enough \u2014 the hill was very high.
\nBut Junaid came down smiling, sitting in a lotus posture. He came just under a tree in the valley, and sat down. They all surrounded him. They looked at him \u2014 not even a scratch.
\nThe master said, \u201cThis is something. You used my name?\u201d
\nHe said, \u201cIt was your name.\u201d
\nThe master said, \u201cThis is enough, now I am going to try,\u201d and the first step in the water, he sank.
\nJunaid could not believe it when he sank. His disciples jumped in and somehow pulled him out. He was half dead. The water was taken out of his lungs\u2026 somehow he survived.
\nAnd Junaid said, \u201cWhat is the matter?\u201d
\nThe master said, \u201cYou just forgive me. I am no master, I am just a pretender.\u201d
\nBut Junaid said, \u201cIf you are a pretender, then how did your name work?\u201d
\nThe pretender said, \u201cMy name has not worked. It is your trust. It does not matter who you trust \u2014 it is the trust, the love, the totality of it. I don\u2019t trust myself. It is an irony that people are behind places such as heaven which is not here and now – In contrast, all the requirements for self-knowledge is ready at hand. Why bother about unknown things when the wise ones have shown us the way to attain Self-knowledge\u00a0here itself?<\/p>\n
