Sun Transit in Cancer 2025 and Sacred Shravan month guidelines & mantras

Om Namah Shivaya. Namaste.

Everyone, the month of Shravan has already begun for those based in North India. However, the month of Shravan begins from 25 July for those who are based in Maharashtra and the neighboring states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat. But overall, the auspicious month of Shravan has already begun for North Indians and for us, that is those like me who are based in Maharashtra. The month of Shravan will begin from 25 July, and the transit of the Sun in Cancer is happening from 16 July. Venus is moving in Gemini on 27 July. Mercury will go retrograde from 18 July in Cancer, and Mars will transit in Virgo on 28 July. Many positive developments, many positive transits are happening. How these overall transits will impact your zodiac sign is what I have discussed in this forecast, followed by a beautiful story devoted to Lord Shiva and specific mantras and remedies that you should follow during this auspicious month of Sharahan.

From 16 July to 16 August, the radiant Sun will journey through the emotional waters of the Cancer zodiac, initiating a deeply sensitive, spiritual, and introspective cycle for all of us.

  • Jupiter remains in Gemini, guiding us through reflection and higher learning.
  • Mercury, the messenger, turns retrograde in Cancer until 11 August, reminding us to speak gently, listen deeply, and revisit emotional truths.
  • Venus, the planet of love, will dwell in her own sign, Taurus, until the 26 July before moving into Gemini, igniting flirtation, charm, and lighter connections.
  • Mars, the warrior, roars through Leo until 28 July, then humbles himself in Virgo, shifting from pride to service.
  • Saturn continues his stern watch in Pisces, while Rahu in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo stir karmic awakenings across the Zodiac.

The Sacred Season of Shravana

Shravana, a month soaked in divine vibrations, begins from 25 July in Maharashtra, as well as in parts of South India, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. In North India, Shravan starts from 11 July right after Guru Purnima. In Maharashtra, the Shravan month begins after Adi Amavasya, locally known in Mumbai as Gata Ahari or Gattari Amavasya (24 July), and extends from 25 July to 23 August.

I urge each one of you—especially those in Maharashtra and neighboring states—to strictly observe fasting on all Shravan Mondays (Shravan Somwars). For North Indians, it begins from 11 July; for South and Western Indians, from 25 July. This is a time to discipline the senses and elevate the soul.

How to Fast on Shravan Somwar

  • From sunrise to sunset, eat only fruits.
  • If you are hungry, drink milk, tea, or coffee—but unflavored.
  • Break your fast after sunset with pure vegetarian food (no onion or garlic).

During this month, perform havanas at home and sacred rituals, for the results are amplified in this divine season. Every mantra chanted echoes louder across the astral rims. Devotees offer bilva leaves, chant mantras, and visit Shiva temples to seek divine blessings.

How Shravana Transits Impact the 12 Zodiac Sign

Aries
This Shravan awakens your inner fire but also your emotional vulnerability. With Sun and retrograde Mercury transiting your fourth house, your mind turns towards the past—family dynamics, inner healing, and unspoken emotions. Career-wise, you may feel drained or underappreciated; take a pause and realign your emotional well-being before chasing the next milestone. Business may move slowly—it’s not a downfall, but a divine delay. Avoid aggressive decisions. Finances require planning and prudent savings. Family relationships may demand forgiveness or honest conversations. Health is sensitive—practice breathwork and pranayam.
Mantra: Om Rudrayan Namah. Chant 108 times in the morning and evening. Do not eat non-vegetarian food and try to fast on all Shravan Mondays based on your location.

Taurus
Venus blesses you until 26 July—a rare window of sweetness and strength. But as Sun and Mercury light your third house, your communication, persuasion, and creativity are tested. Use this Shravan to strengthen willpower, not ego. Career brings mixed outcomes—don’t expect quick appreciation; keep working with devotion and subtle brilliance. In business, be patient with siblings or close associates. Financially, minor gains are possible, but avoid vanity spending. In love, your charm is undeniable; remember that love is protection, not possession. Health remains stable—avoid overexertion or voice strain.
Mantra: Om Vishweshwaraya Namah. Chant 108 times in the morning and evening. Do not eat non-vegetarian food; fast on Shravan Mondays based on your region.

Gemini
Your mind is your greatest strength and teacher. With Jupiter in your sign and Mercury retrograde in your second house, your thoughts, speech, and self-worth are under divine scrutiny. Speak less, feel more. Career demands mental clarity—avoid miscommunications with seniors. Post 11 August is better for major proposals; until then, hold off. Business improves after Venus enters Gemini on 26 July. Finances may fluctuate; refrain from speculative investments. In relationships, it’s how you say it that matters. Health: care for your throat, mouth, and sugar levels.
Mantra: Om Rushikeshaya Namah. Chant 108 times morning and evening. Do not eat non-vegetarian food; fast on Shravan Mondays as per your local calendar.

Cancer
With Sun and Mercury transiting your sign, this is your sacred rebirth. Mercury’s retrograde makes it more about how you see yourself than how the world sees you. A divine mirror is held up—look gently. Career moves forward when you move inward: fast and be still. In business, revisit leadership style—your team reflects your energy. Finances may improve slowly after 11 August; avoid impulsive purchases. Your heart is overflowing—nurture, don’t control. Health requires deep hydration and Sattvic discipline.

You are not what you show; you are what you hide. With Sun in your 12th house and Ketu in your sign, the divine demands surrender. Letting go can be liberation. Career brings subtle transformations: work in silence—results will speak. Business may face unexpected expenses—manage wisely. Finances may go toward spiritual or medical causes. Virgo
You are entering the battlefield of karma and being sharpened for it. With Sun and Mercury in your 11th house and Mars entering your sign on 28 July, refine, restructure, and realign your goals. Career may feel stagnant—delays are divine, preparing you for a leap in September. Business partnerships need discernment—be cautious financially. Libra
This is your time to rise professionally and spiritually. With Sun in your 10th house and Venus favoring you until 26 July, your charisma and creativity shine. But don’t mistake visibility for vision. Career expands, though Mercury retrograde may cause delays—use Shravan for patient execution. Business sees subtle growth—authenticity attracts the right clients. Financially, plan future investments. Relationships deepen when you drop perfectionism. Health may show fatigue or backache from screen overload—breathe and balance.

A Story of Devotion

Long ago, in a humble village, lived an old woodcutter named Bhola. He was poor, had no family, and his back was bent from years of carrying firewood. His life was hardship—no gold, no grain. Yet his heart was rich with devotion. Every Shravan month, despite poverty and old age, Bhola would wake before sunrise, bathe in the river, and walk through the forest to a small Shiva temple hidden beneath a giant tree. He had no milk, no flowers, no incense sticks—only a pot of cold water and trembling hands. Every Monday, without fail, he poured that water over the Shivalinga and chanted Om Namah Shivaya, tears flowing as if Lord Shiva stood before him. One monsoon night, Bhola slipped on a wet rock and fell unconscious. Hours passed with no help—until before dawn, a sage with glowing eyes arrived. He lifted Bhola, placed a healing hand on his chest, and whispered, “You are not alone, Bhola. I have come for the water you offered, for the love you gave without asking.” The next morning, Bhola awoke fully healed, glowing, as if his years of pain were gone. Villagers claimed they saw Lord Shiva himself walking through the forest that night, Trishul in hand, eyes soft with compassion. From that day on, Bhola was revered as Bhola Baba, the one who touched Shiva’s heart through pure devotion.

And that is the message, my fellows: the month of Shravan is the month of devotion. Devotion is love overflowing—it flows to every table, every chair, wherever it comes. You don’t need to be a scholar or a pandit, nor offer expensive gifts or be perfect. All you need is a true heart, a willingness to bow, and a voice chanting Shiva’s name with love. This Shravan month, no matter where you are or how busy or broken you feel, offer your devotion—even if it’s just a cup of water and five minutes of mantra chanting. Lord Shiva sees it all and comes silently when you least expect but most need him. Let your Mondays be soaked in prayer and fasting. Let your soul echo:

Om Namah Shivaya
Om Namah Shivaya

Remember, you are never alone when your heart belongs to Lord Shiva.

Jai Sri Ganesha. Jai Guru.
