Namaste. In medical astrology, there are certain aspects, conjunctions, Nakshatras and houses that signify mental issues. Issues such as anxiety, depression, frustration, overthinking, fear factor. All these things derive from specific astrological combinations. But the larger question is that why are you suffering? Why are you going through such mental difficulties? And what is the solution? In this podcast I have covered each of these points. So let’s begin with this second episode of medical Astrology.
In medical astrology, the Moon and Mercury play a significant role in influencing mental health. While these two prominent planets directly affect emotional well being and cognitive processes, the zodiac signs they occupy, particularly the watery and airy signs, also significantly shape mental stability. Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, the water signs, are deeply connected with emotions. These signs govern the internal emotional world and can profoundly impact how we process feelings and moods. On the other hand, the air signs, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, are strongly linked to intellectual functions shaping our thinking, communication and reasoning patterns. In simple words, water signs influence the emotional state of your mind, while air signs shape the brain’s thought processes. When malefic planets such as Rahu, Mars or Saturn are positioned in either of these signs, or if Mercury or the Moon are afflicted by these planets, mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, fear and excessive overthinking often arise.
Let us understand the role of Nakshatras in mental health. The second dimension of mental health in astrology involves Nakshatras or lunar constellations. Nakshatras within the air signs such as Mruga, Adra, Chitra, Swati, Shatabhisha and Purva Bhadrapad are directly connected to mental health issues manifesting as restlessness, overthinking, emotional instability and stress. In the water signs, Nakshatras like Ashlesha, Anuradha, Jayishta, Revati and Uttarabhadrapad also have a significant influence on mental well being. These Nakshatras can trigger emotional intensity, sensitivity and psychological struggles, often leading to mental distress if not handled with care.
Let us understand the significance of houses in mental health. The third dimension of mental health in medical astrology is the houses. Among the 12 astrological houses, the fourth house is crucial because it directly governs your emotional happiness and mental state. The fourth house is ruled by Cancer, a water sign, making it highly sensitive to the presence of malefic planets like Rahu or Saturn. When such planets occupy the fourth house, individuals may experience anxiety, fear, overthinking, and confusion. They may struggle to make clear decisions and often require support and guidance from those with more experience. Next, the eighth house plays a role in the psychology of an individual. Any malefic influence in the eighth house can lead to psychological issues, including intense inner turmoil or trauma. Similarly, the 12th house, associated with the supernatural and unseen dreams, can lead to mental disturbances, especially when affected by Rahu. Individuals with Rahu in the 12th house may experience attacks from negative energies, black magic, or other external influences that impact their mental health. Finally, the sixth house is significant as it deals with hidden enemies, conspiracies, and even struggles with authority figures like the state or the government. Malefic influences in this house can result in situations where one can become a target of external harm, whether through deception, sabotage, or other forms of psychological stress.
Now let us understand the role of Mahadasha periods. The Mahadasha period, that is the planetary period a person is undergoing, can also significantly affect mental health. If an individual is experiencing malefic influences on Mercury or the Moon or key Nakshatras in water and air signs, they may go through difficult times battling emotional and psychological challenges until the Mahadasha comes to an end. Now let us take some examples of mental health indicators. Some of the common astrological combinations that indicate mental health issues include Moon and Rahu conjunctions in the 8th, 4th, or 12th house or afflictions to the rulers of signs occupied by the Moon and Rahu. The second is Moon Saturn, Moon Venus, Moon Sun, Moon Uranus, and Moon Pluto. These conjunctions, especially when they are afflicted in water or air sign Nakshatras, can cause emotional disturbances, anxiety, or mental exhaustion. Even when the Moon is combust and Mercury is retrograde, the person can go through certain mental issues.
Yesterday, Mohan asked an insightful question. Why do these mental health issues occur? What is the solution? The answer lies in the karmic patterns of both the individual and their family. Mental health challenges often stem from the combined past karma of one’s own life and their family’s history, particularly the karma of the father, the mother, the grandparents, and siblings. This interconnectedness shapes the individual’s emotional and psychological state. In ancient times, marriage arrangements took family backgrounds into account to ensure compatibility and the best possible outcome for both partners. The rise of love marriages marked a rebellion against this tradition. However, in modern times, love marriages have also resulted in a significant rise in divorces, showing that family influence still plays a critical role in marriages. Thus, your current mental state is shaped by the cumulative karma from your own past life, as well as the collective karma of your family.
To overcome the negative karmic patterns, you must focus on healing through practices like consistent mantra chanting, donations, charity, and emotional self control. The most crucial step is controlling your reactions. Even the wisest person may react impulsively at times, which can lead to negative karmic results. Let me share a small example with you. A wise young man, extremely hungry, ordered veg fried rice at a restaurant. When his food arrived, it was veg Singapore rice, a mistake he hadn’t ordered. Naturally, he lost his temper. Later, he regretted his reaction and realized that his anger had caused more harm than the mistake itself. Instead of reacting harshly, he could have calmly said, it’s okay, please bring me the correct order. By reacting with patience and composure, he would have turned the situation into an opportunity to demonstrate wisdom and grace. This example serves as a reminder for all of us. How we react to others, especially when wronged, matters a lot in shaping our emotional and mental well being. This is something I am personally working on and I encourage all my followers to focus on improving how they respond to life’s challenges and the people around them. By changing our reactions we can break the cycle of negative karma and promote better mental health and overall well being.
Remedies in astrology help you improve your present karma, known as Kriyaman Karma. For instance, if you took somebody’s food in a past life, this life you can balance out that negative karma by donating food to those in need. Similarly, those who are experiencing a miserable married life may have wronged married couples in a past life, which results in the struggles and challenges they face in this life. And for those who never marry or who are never able to find a marriage partner, it’s often because of curses from past life behavior towards their spouse. In simple terms, what you are going through now is a direct consequence of your past actions and you must face and resolve it. If you try to escape, your next life may bring even more intense challenges than what you are experiencing now.
With that in mind, I’ll share some simple remedies that can help you overcome mental health challenges and karmic obstacles. The first remedy is to worship Lord Shiva. Every Monday chant Om Namah Shivaya, Om Namah Shivaya, Om Namah Shivaya, to invoke Lord Shiva’s blessings and support in clearing negative karma and bringing peace to your mind. The second remedy is avoid non veg food. Shift to a vegetarian diet to improve your mental clarity. If you live in a cold climate, eating eggs or seafood can be an exception. Maintain a healthy sex life. A balanced and healthy sex life is essential for mental health. Rather than suppressing your sexual desires, express them in a respectful, healthy manner to keep your mental state stable. The fourth remedy is daily chanting and giving. Every morning and evening, chant this beautiful mantra, Om Ram Ramaya Namah, Om Ram Ramaya Namah, Om Ram Ramaya Namah. In addition, donate 1250 grams of jaggery, sugar and rice to someone in need or you can donate them at Ram Temple. This act of kindness will uplift your mental well being. And the next important remedy is visit Kalabhairav temple on Sundays. Go to the Kalabhairav temple and offer one coconut, five lemons, 250 grams of laddu and one garland. While at the temple, sit for 20 minutes in silence and chant Om Kala Bhairavaya Namah, Om Kala Bhairavaya Namah, Om Kala Bhairavaya Namah. This ritual will help release mental blockages and bring peace.
It is important to note that these remedies won’t instantly eliminate your mental struggles. Instead, they will help you face and eventually overcome them. Think of it like a loan repayment. If you owe one crore rupees, the amount will not magically reduce. But through these practices, you will find ways to pay off that debt and ultimately achieve liberation from the karmic burdens holding you back. Always remember, consistency is the key. Regular spiritual practices are essential to navigate through life’s challenges. Dedicate 10 minutes daily to meditation and 10 minutes to mantra chanting. This will help you maintain mental stability and patience, allowing you to sail smoothly through life’s ups and downs. Always remember, nothing lasts forever. Life is in constant flux and planets are always shifting positions. Just like how a prime minister or president’s respect changes over time, you too will face phases where today’s challenges will eventually fade and new opportunities will arise. Today’s hero may be forgotten tomorrow and today’s hero could become a hero in the future. Life is always changing, so don’t give up. When you face difficult situations, stay grounded because change is inevitable. With that, I’ll conclude for now. I’ll be back soon with yet another new episode on medical astrology to explore a fresh topic. Enough for now.
Jai Sri Ganesha Jai Guru.
